We enable world-leading marine pilot training, maritime accident investigation, maritime simulation studies for port development and complex navigation, and advances in autonomous ship navigation. Our certified ship simulator combines fluid dynamics for in-operation vessels and ship models with 3D visuals. The simulation software is highly adaptable and is available as a stand-alone desktop ship simulator software or a full bridge simulator with a console.
We tailor-make models for the REMBRANDT simulator based on the specific characteristics or class of ship. These models can be supplied singly or as a portfolio of different vessels. The simulator gives pilots a realistic experience of larger ships and aids the development of safe operating procedures.
For example, each simulation installed on-board a ship could be ship-specific. Yet, a shore-based system could be configured to provide the option of simulating any vessel in a particular fleet or a range of ship types common in a specific port.
The simulator, which contains many of the features of modern integrated bridge systems, can be equipped with additional modules featuring spatially variable currents, anchors, mooring lines, tugs and vessels in 3D.
Firstly, we prepare a mathematical model validated based on sea trials, the results of model tests and information from our extensive ship manoeuvring database. Next, the ship model is evaluated by someone familiar with the vessel's handling, such as a master or pilot.
BMT REMBRANDT is the benchmark simulator for fluid dynamics accuracy and provides a realistic experience of larger vessels to support safe operating procedures. We continue to lead the market from design and evaluation studies to marine incident investigation and bespoke training for maritime professionals.
Our mission bridge simulator complex is fully equipped to provide exceptional marine consultancy and detailed incident investigations for litigation and bespoke training courses designed to meet the needs of your maritime professionals.
Ship types included in the simulator are:
Each ship model is fully validated. We aim to ensure that the performance of every ship model is indistinguishable from that of the actual ship.
Our full-bridge mission simulator is an immersive system ideal for ship officer and marine pilotage training. The bridge simulator can be configured with conventional, azipod and custom-built control consoles to provide a real-life immersive simulation experience.
Many national statutory agencies rely on BMT REMBRANDT.
BMT’s suite of REMBRANDT systems range from DnV Class A and Class S accredited full mission bridge simulators through to highly portable laptop platforms. The latter enable clients’ full flexibility for onboard and mobile tools for complex real-time manoeuvring assessments and training.
Our simulator solutions include training, studies, digital forensics for maritime accidents and autonomous ship navigation.
Our DNV certified maritime simulator is ideal for ship officer and marine pilotage training.
REMBRANDT simulations help port and terminal operators plan to navigate multiple vessel types under various sea and weather conditions.
REMBRANDT has been developed over 30 years, working extensively with commercial ship operators, ports and terminal operators, pilots and statutory accident investigation bodies. Working in close collaboration with the US NTSB and MAIB, REMBRANDT enables rapid 3D VDR and AIS data visual reconstruction and playback. Added to this functionality, is a unique capability to implement “pause & take control”, switching from a passive reconstruction to a fully interactive simulation. This permits “what-if” scenarios as an integral part of implementing a Lessons Learned culture.
The BMT REMBRANDT simulation software excels in supporting operators that are commissioning bigger vessels whilst at the same time moving with the markets and directing their ships into narrow channels and smaller ports.
