What is BMT REMBRANDT?

BMT REMBRANDT (Real Time Manoeuvring Berthing And Training) is a Windows based, 3D time domain, navigation and seakeeping ship simulation software application. BMT REMBRANDT is fully scalable and is approved as a DnV Class A (full mission), B (multi-task), C (limited task) and S (special task) ship simulator.

BMT REMBRANDT is unique within the industry, evidenced by the broad range of users / stakeholders across the maritime industry. It is fully scalable and available across a wide range of platforms, ranging from laptop, desktop and through to full-bridge mission based installations. Users include commercial ship operators and owners, floating oil and gas operators, pilots, nautical training schools, statutory marine accident investigation agencies and law firms.

Functionality

A wide range of user configurable controls allow for a variety of environmental conditions. These include reduced visibility, day/night settings, wind and current shielding, multi-directional swells and complex current flows. The software supports S57 and S63 ENCs. Visual topography, including bathymetric representation is automatically generated from the ENC chart. The system is AIS-enabled, allowing real-time displays of live traffic as part of a vessel simulation. An interactive tug drag-and-drop library is also available

Scalable and Highly Configurable

BMT REMBRANDT is highly configurable and is available with a wide range of conventional and AZIPOD console options. The system is scalable, operating on a wide range of platforms from laptops through to desktop and full mission bridge, integrated with radar, ECDIS and GMDSS modules.

Research and Innovation Driven

In addition to industry driven developments, BMT REMBRANDT also benefits from a wide range of external innovation funding streams which means many of its emerging features are cutting-edge and technically unique. This includes new state-of-the-art attributes, such as ship-to-ship transfer time domain simulation, VDR 3D digital event reconstruction and COLLREGS cognisant AI manoeuvring simulation.

3D Hydrodynamic Modelling and Visualisation

The system includes a large database of six degree of freedom hydrodynamic models for ships, floating O&G platforms and smaller craft, all calibrated using sea trial data and/or pilot cards. Physical phenomena such as squat, bank effects and ship-ship interaction are included.

Certified & Approved Systems

BMT REMBRANDT is approved a DNV Class A (full mission), B (multi-task), C (limited task) and S (special task) simulator. It is also approved to BAW (Bundesanstalt fur Wasserbau, on behalf of the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration, Wasser und Schiffahrtsverwaltung des Bundes (WSV) in Germany.
