Safe and efficient operations are a vital component of a successful offshore facility. Optimising how vessels perform, training crew, and ensuring safety measures are in place is critical to operational safety and performance within operating budgets.

Our analysis and guidance at the design stage can help you achieve the best possible performance from your assets.  By building insight into the design, we address problems before they happen and help support end products that will be reliable, safe and perform to expectation in all circumstances.

Oil platform

We help to unlock productivity and address vital safety and environmental challenges.

Accurately matching your drilling unit to your environment is key to managing cost and safety.

We combine technical ability with in-field experience to offer practical, well-grounded advice that avoids the unforeseen operational costs associated with weather downtime whilst maintaining safe and efficient drilling operations.

We provide valuable site-specific data during drilling to compare with the marine forecast, assisting drillers in assessing the accuracy of the estimates and maximizing the efficiency of operations offshore.

Integrating sensors topside and subsea provides operators with a seamless view of the performance of a drilling unit to ensure that it remains within its operational design limits.

Our combined systems and services provide warning systems and predict weather risk, enabling critical response teams to act appropriately.

Safe operational working limits for weather and sea state and the number of working hours required to complete each phase of a drilling program may be provided in a short turnaround from existing data sets.  We provide valuable information to operators and drilling contractors’ before and during the drilling operation.

Helideck operations and design guidance

Helicopter operations to and from offshore platforms can involve significant risk and cost, so helidecks must be designed for optimal performance and minimal risk.

We help you accurately measure and model weather conditions during helicopter landing and take-off operations to optimise the design and improve safety. Our studies also support the optimisation of helicopter landings in adverse weather conditions and any turbulence created by the layout of the topside.

We have recognised authorities on offshore helideck aerodynamics and use our world-class wind tunnel facilities and state-of-the-art computational modelling resources to provide designers and operators with clear and insightful assessments of proposed helideck designs.

Metocean Operability and Downtime Assessments

We provide customers with the detailed metocean information they need to support the safe and cost-effective operation of oil and gas facilities.

We can advise on safe operational working limits for weather and sea state in a short turnaround from existing data sets, thus providing valuable information to operators and installation contractors during the operation of marine structures. Our extensive metocean databases are based on over 25-years of hindcast modelling, calibrated with satellite observations, and coupled with in-house knowledge to derive site-specific metocean statistics and identify operational risks.

Vessel and mooring selection

Preliminary vessel and mooring selection for marine terminals are an essential part of early project concept selection and planning to understand better the options available for near-shore and field offshore locations.

We have a broad range of experience in this area in evaluating offshore floating production systems, ship-to-ship and ship-to-structure operations.  Our comprehensive consultancy services range from providing expert advice to detailed dynamic analysis using specialist software.
