BMT, a leading international multi-disciplinary engineering, science, and technology consultancy, today announced the appointment of Mahesh Lavand as Principal Consultant Risk and Modelling, Asia. This appointment comes as BMT continues to grow its safety and asset management services across industries including energy, renewables, ports, maritime and defence.
With over 15-years’ experience leading major offshore oil and gas and downstream projects, Mahesh has gained experience in solving challenging problems and supporting customers in achieving success in highly competitive markets. Prior to joining BMT, Mahesh was with DNV and has also worked with engineering, procurement and construction companies.
“Leveraging his technical expertise, Mahesh will take a leading role in growing existing client relationships and forging new ones. BMT is already well established in Singapore, being a National Environment Agency approved QRA consultant, and so Mahesh will work towards ensuring that our customers continue to take a thorough approach to risk management.” said Suba Sivandran, BMT Managing Director, Asia.

Safety is of paramount importance in these industries, particularly considering local land use challenges, and with process facilities located in urban settings or near congested ports., Process safety recommendations directly impact optimum land use as well as project economics, therefore experience and expertise in these areas becomes critical to the success of new energy ventures.

We have won a competitive bid to replace the Integrated Marine Monitoring System on the floating production unit (FPU), Salamanca, which is set for refurbishment and redeployment in the US Gulf of Mexico after being decommissioned by a former operator in 2019.
