BMT Appoints Infrastructure Focused Sales Manager for Asia ahead of Major Expansion

BMT has appointed Charles Lim as the Infrastructure Sales Manager for Asia. Based out of the organisation’s Asia headquarters in Singapore, this appointment comes ahead of significant expansion plans.

With a solid track record in delivering client focused solutions to projects in the Coastal Infrastructure, Ports and Terminals, Offshore Renewable Energy, Floating Solutions and Climate Resilience space, his experience will lend to further strengthening BMT’s strategic ambitions for Asia.

BMT, a leading international multi-disciplinary engineering, science, and technology organisation, today announced Charles Lim as the Sales Manager for Infrastructure in Asia. Charles brings considerable experience from Infrastructure and adjacent markets to the position, cementing a strong foundation on which BMT intends to expand the Asia market.

“We are delighted to appoint Charles to our regional leadership team in Asia to drive business innovation and growth opportunities, with his solid track record in engaging with local partners to progress both greenfield coastal infrastructure and renewable energy projects, he is the ideal person to support our office expansion.” said Suba Sivandran, BMT Managing Director, Asia.

“We have recently supported a client in South East Asia for maritime infrastructure design of a fast-tracked LNG to Power facility starting from feasibility stage and all the way through to technical support during construction. BMT, being a long-time trusted consultant for such LNG projects, were also able to offer in-house technical risk and safety support through our Risk, Safety and Modelling team based out of Singapore that have been serving the regional petrochemical and energy industry for a very long time.” He continued.  

“The consolidation of our services in Asia has allowed us to provide investment support capabilities through our Singapore office to assist clients in economic feasibility and operations optimisation studies to complement BMT’s expertise in engineering and design. Moving forward we are looking to support clients not just in the container port segment but also those from the wider ports segment, offshore wind, LNG, mining and aquaculture industries with our new Investment Support team.” Added Sivandran.

We have made significant research investments in maritime advisory and optimisation services to support this rapidly advancing region.” He said.

Charles has a successful track record in the provision of master planning and design of ports, clean energy, LNG, floating solutions to the Coastal Infrastructure, commodity and public sectors. He has supported various growth and regeneration initiatives that are linked to floating structures and smart technologies for the region’s newly prioritised transit North-South Corridor. He is a founder of the Society of Floating Solutions in Singapore, a progressive organisation with a focus on advancing deployable, safe and eco-friendly floating solution structures for all purposes to enhance the quality of human life, and as well to reduce environmental impact and resulting costs.

Charles is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Monash University and also holds a Master of Project Management from the University of Adelaide in addition to being certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.
