The Risk and Compliance Manager is a newly created role, pivotal in safeguarding BMT’s global operations by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, while ensuring compliance which will involve horizon scanning to ensure BMT is compliant applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.  This dual-focused role supports strategic decision-making and promotes a culture of integrity and accountability across the organisation. The role will support the strengthening of the ‘3 Lines of Defence’ model, through the development of risk and control frameworks to support the management of legal and commercial risks.

The role will provide an excellent opportunity to get exposure to all parts of BMT and to interact with senior management right up to Board level.   For the right candidate, it will also provide an opportunity over time to develop the role and evolve BMT’s processes and systems as a key enabler for BMT’s growth ambitions. 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our enterprise risk management and compliance functions. In this role, you will develop and maintain BMT’s risk management framework, policies, tools, and procedures, supporting leadership in identifying and assessing strategic, operational, financial, and reputational risks across global business units. You will manage the Risk Register, monitor emerging risks—including geopolitical, cyber, and ESG-related issues—and facilitate regular reviews with risk owners. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will help shape risk appetite and tolerance levels, lead awareness and training initiatives, and support the CEO and Global General Counsel in evaluating governance structures. Additionally, you will oversee the global Corporate Services compliance programme, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements. This includes developing commercial risk frameworks, implementing legal and commercial policies, supporting the global insurance programme, and promoting ethical conduct through training and whistleblower support. You will also contribute to ad-hoc projects involving Conflicts of Interest, KYC, and Anti-Bribery to enhance efficiency and compliance across the organisation.

We are looking for a highly capable individual with excellent knowledge of enterprise and operational risk management processes. A commercial mindset and the ability to see the bigger picture are essential, along with strong analytical skills to interpret complex issues and quantify abstract risks. The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and collaboratively across teams. Experience in reporting to senior stakeholders such as the C-suite, Audit Committee, and Board is preferred, as is an understanding of global insurance programmes and membership of a relevant professional body. The role requires influencing skills to drive results and assertiveness when needed. You will report to the Global General Counsel and work closely with ExCo, their direct reports, regional business directors, and the wider senior leadership team.
