Vessel Simulation Study for a Proposed Container Terminal

BMT conducted marine navigation simulations related to the feasibility of developing CT10, a proposed container terminal, at south west Tsing Yi Island with regards to navigation safety and ship-handling.

Overview

Client: Confidential

Country: Hong Kong

Project Location: Southwest Tsing Yi Island

What We Delivered

BMT conducted a marine navigation simulations related to feasibility of developing CT10, a proposed new container terminal, at south west Tsing Yi Island with regards to navigation safety and ship-handling.

The simulations were done on BMT’s proprietary desktop simulator, PC Rembrandt, using simulated hydrodynamic currents of the area.

Outcome and Benefits

Scope of work for the simulation was as follows:

  1. Setup and prepare navigation simulation software, PC Rembrandt as per layout provided;
  2. Provide a desktop assessment of the site from a marine perspective taking into consideration the draft of the vessels expected to call at the facility in relation to the approaches currents, weather conditions, marine traffic conditions and optimization of movements;
  3. Extract navigation simulation results, analysis and report including constraints and risks (if any) with recommended measures.
