Client: Advisian for Wafi-Golpu Joint Venture
BMT was engaged as part of a specialist team to prepare the aquatic ecology, water quality, hydrology and geomorphology chapters for the Wafi-Golpu Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
The project involved preparing a detailed site selection and sampling plan, and conducting field surveys within a tight timeframe to meet overall project deadlines. BMT worked with on-site WGJV staff across a project area that extended between the lower Watut River and the Wampit River.
Due to the remote location of the project, BMT undertook detailed logistics planning to ensure the field survey was completed without interruption to the site staff, and met projected timelines and budgets.
A range of modelling was undertaken to assist with the project design and assess hydrology and water quality impacts to receiving environments. The EIS has been submitted for government review.
Building on the Port of Cairns Cruise Shipping Demand Study undertaken by us in 2010 – 2011, we are working with project partner Arup to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for the Port of Cairns Shipping Development Project.
UK MoD Defence Equipment and Support In-Service Submarines (ISM) Project Team (via SSMG) required support to design an Environmental Management System (EMS).
BMT was engaged by the Queensland Government to produce an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the Kaili Valley Wetlands to guide future industrial development within the APSDA and maintain the values of these nationally significant wetlands in a coordinated way.
We were engaged by Fremantle Ports to project manage and provide expert technical advice on marine environmental assessment of a major port facility.
