BMT Asia Pacific honours late Managing Director through Scholarship
Two scholarships set up in memory of Kathleen Koh, late Managing Director of BMT Asia Pacific, are now in place, with young engineers poised to continue her dedication to engineering.
The Kathleen Koh Seok Hoon Scholarship at the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Faculty of Engineering was established in memory of her untimely passing and in honour of her contributions to the industry.
Third year Civil Engineering student Choo Ming Hao, recipient of the Kathleen Koh Seok Hoon Scholarship, said: “I feel that in engineering, the things I learn are not purely theoretical but also applicable to the real world. The things that we study can translate into solutions for world issues.
“With the scholarship, I can now concentrate better on my studies and even look for internships during the summer holidays instead of looking for jobs to cover my school fees. It has also not only motivated me to continue achieving better grades, but also enabled me to interact with various key personnel of different engineering companies, allowing me to gain better and more solid insight into the field and equip myself with the relevant skills.”
Here at BMT, we hope that Kathleen’s scholarship can help to promote similar attitudes and achievements among the awardees – that they will exhibit diligence and determination and see through her example of what can be achieved, succeed in their engineering studies and make a lasting impact in their chosen careers.
