An Intermediate Pipeline Engineer at BMT Canada will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide engineering skills and competence to technical projects
- Write and contribute to project reports
- Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
- Be a technical resource pipeline and/or pressure vessels and piping design and integrity assessment considering pressure, geotechnical and thermal loading
- Be capable of completing engineering calculations in fast paced consulting environment
- Be responsive to directions and document work completed
- Understand engineering concepts and think creatively to identify opportunities for solution improvements
Basic Qualifications
- Post-Graduate degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Civil Engineering
- In knowledge of engineering applied to the energy sector
- Proven engineering skills and potential to achieve a Professional Engineering licence
- In subject matter expertise related to one or more of fitness for service assessment (i.e. cracking, corrosion, weld fault, geohazard, hydrotechnical hazard assessment), materials, welding, forensic investigation
- Expertise in executing numerical modelling with a focus on one or more of Proficiency in ABAQUS, ANSYS, LS DYNA, Fluent, Caesar II, AutoPIPE, Matlab
- Demonstrated ability to create macros or automate engineering calculations using Matlab or other coding environments
- Demonstrated ability for technical report or memo writing
- Track record for good verbal and written communication skills
Desirable Experience / Qualifications
- Experience within the North American Energy Pipeline and Plant Service sector
- Experience working in a consulting engineering environment
- Experience working with industry standards CSA Z662, API 579, API 1104, BS 7910, ASME PVC, ASME B31 series
- Proven ability working in a small team environment
- Knowledge IMP (Integrity Management Program) implementation
- Knowledge of in line inspection tool reported data
- Knowledge of geotechnical and hydrotechnical hazards
