BMT reaffirms commitment to Armed Forces community with Covenant re-signing

6 May 2026

BMT has reaffirmed its commitment to the Armed Forces community by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant during a recent senior Royal Navy engagement. As a Gold Award holder under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, this reflects the company’s ongoing dedication to supporting service personnel, veterans and their families.

Hosted at BMT’s Digital Innovation and Simulation Centre in Fareham, the signing took place as part of a visit hosted by BMT for the Royal Navy’s Second Sea Lord, Vice Admiral Paul Beattie CBE, and Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Steve Moorhouse CBE.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge by organisations to recognise the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces and their families. By re-signing the Covenant, BMT reinforces its commitment to ensuring that members of this community are treated fairly and equitably, particularly as they transition to civilian life. Tangible examples of this include: the enablement of service through paid leave, mobilisation support, and reservist-friendly policies; unlocking talent through veteran recruitment, skills translation and transition pathways, and supporting families via relocation, flexible working and deployment-aware policies.

The Covenant signing was the celebratory pinnacle of the visit, which also included demonstrations of BMT’s digital engineering, simulation and assurance capabilities to the Second Sea Lord and the Fleet Commander, and discussions on how industry can enable the transition to a Hybrid Navy.

Sarah Kenny OBE, CEO at BMT, commented:

Re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant is a clear expression of who we are as a business. Our people are central to BMT’s success. The contribution made by service leavers, reservists, and veterans is crucial in terms of strengthening our capabilities and enriching our culture. We are proud to play our part in ensuring that this community is recognised and supported, and that those within it can continue to make a difference by developing their careers and applying their invaluable expertise. It was an honour and a privilege for the re-signing to be witnessed by Vice Admiral Paul Beattie CBE, and Vice Admiral Steve Moorhouse CBE, and we extend our warmest thanks to them for supporting the occasion – and for the insightful and engaging conversation beforehand, as the hybrid Navy journey continues at pace."
