With over 35 years of maritime experience, including casualty response, investigation and legal work, Andrew will be instrumental in bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role.

He spent thirteen years with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and worked in quality and safety management for a large commercial ship manager, where he was in daily direct contact with seagoing Masters. In his previous position as a Marine Manager (Casualty Investigator) for a city law firm, Andrew gained a thorough understanding of the commercial marine insurance and legal markets. His extensive background allows him to fully understand the challenges, regulation, and technical needs of our customers in these complex industries.

Andrew will be collaborating closely with our customers, and our growing network of surveyors and strategic partners, to provide them with a comprehensive understanding of BMT's global capabilities, helping them with compliance and advice as they navigate the ever-evolving challenges of the maritime sector.

His vast experience and dedication to the expanding maritime sector make him a valuable asset to our team.”

“This brand-new role will see Andrew lead the company’s current and future customer engagement activity in a consulting context across the UK and European markets for Marine Surveys, helping them with their technical solutions and transformation strategies.” added de Bruin.

Andrew commented: “I look forward to collaborating with our customers to review their current and future requirements, and to support them with improved capabilities and advice. An essential element of my role will be in staying ahead of industry trends, including pre-empting, and assessing challenges that are emerging in shipping and maritime law, and to gauge the impact on our customers’ businesses. I currently serve as the Honorary Secretary of the London Branch of the Nautical Institute where I have accumulated over 20 years of active contribution enhancing my appreciation of the challenges faced by the industry.”
