KBR and BMT join forces to strengthen maritime sustainment outcomes

KBR and BMT have entered into a strategic relationship to support the delivery of long-term outcomes for the sustainment of Royal Australian Navy platforms. This collaboration unites two experienced Defence partners with a shared vision for a more integrated and resilient sustainment enterprise.

KBR will provide extensive program management, systems integration and engineering experience, complemented by BMT’s specialist naval engineering, asset management and technical assurance expertise. Together, the two organisations stand ready to support Defence’s platform availability, bringing dependable, cost-effective, and future-ready sustainment solutions for maritime platforms across Australia.

KBR has a 65-year heritage of delivering some of Australia’s most ambitious nation-building projects, providing complex engineering, technical, program management, nuclear and infrastructure support. Today, KBR is supporting several major maritime programs including Capability Life Cycle Management for the Amphibious Combat and Sealift fleet and technical design and infrastructure at HMAS Stirling and Osborne Naval Shipyard.

Nic Maan, Vice President Australia Defence and Security Solutions at KBR said "the collaboration provides an opportunity to further strengthen the support KBR provides the Australian Defence Force."
“KBR has a longstanding history partnering with the Australian Government and Australian Defence Force on large-scale defence and national security programs,” Mr Maan said.
“We are thrilled to be joining forces with BMT to optimise maritime sustainment outcomes. BMT’s deep platform knowledge complements KBR’s experience as a capability partner for the Royal Australian Navy."

BMT’s role builds on its proven track record of supporting naval platforms and programs globally. With over 40 years of design, engineering, and asset assurance experience, BMT delivers independent, platform-agnostic support to Defence and industry across the capability lifecycle.

Sarah Kenny OBE, Chief Executive at BMT said “The relationship reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Australia’s sovereign sustainment capability”.
Graeme Nayler, Regional Business Director, BMT in the Asia Pacific stated, “We’re proud to join forces with KBR to support the Royal Australian Navy’s long-term operational readiness”.
“Our combined strengths will allow the development of effective and efficient solutions to support Navy platforms to remain ready, available, and cost-effective throughout their life of type. We share a common vision for a more agile, resilient, and data-informed maritime sustainment model – one that delivers real value to Defence and keeps Australia’s fleet mission-ready.”

The BMT–KBR partnership will focus on engineering-led, data-informed sustainment solutions that enhance platform availability, reduce through-life costs, and support continuous improvement across the maritime enterprise.
