We are pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Hedd as Regional Sales Director for BMT in the Americas. In his new role, Hedd is responsible for the expansion of technical and engineering services into new and existing markets including commercial, energy, government and security, and military.
This announcement comes at an exciting time in the global organisation, particularly in North America where finding new strategic business opportunities in the region for the BMT offering is key to BMT creating a path with their industry partners and clients to reaching their ‘best in class’ goals. The appointment of Hedd ensures focus and continuity on business growth in North America through expansion of capability and local delivery of global BMT expertise.
“It is a very exciting time for our company as we respond to growing market demands across the region. We can see strong growth potential in all aspects of our business from engineering and environmental consulting through to our energy focused segments. I am looking forward to working alongside our partners and clients as we solve some of the biggest challenges in the coming years.” - Lee Hedd
A Naval Architect and Business Development professional with 30 years of experience in the acquisition and leadership of marine design and commercial research and development projects within the international marine, offshore and ship-building industries, Hedd’s career has included advancing commercial and technical roles in the marine industry while developing expertise in strategic management and in the implementation of complex client engagement work.
His professional experience covers a diverse array of the marine industry including in-service support, high speed vessel design, shipyard technical liaison expertise, developing concepts for novel marine vehicles, assessing vessel operations in ice covered waters, through to consulting on offshore structure mooring and survivability. If a structure in the ocean has been influenced by wind, waves, current, or ice elements there is a high probability that Hedd has experienced something similar during his career.
Throughout his proven career, Hedd has published and presented a number of technical papers and opinion articles at international conferences focused on high-speed craft, offshore and arctic structures, and numerical simulation methods as well as within leading industry trade and technical journals.
Lee joined the organization in 2021 as a Business Development Manager in Canada where his primary focus was on the maritime sector. His appointment to Regional Sales Director allows him to draw on the breadth of his experience across multiple sectors and drive expansion of services in the region.
