BMT has secured a contract with the National Crime Agency (NCA) to support its specialist cyber-crime team in the design, build and implementation of an enhanced cyber data platform. This platform will provide easier and more effective analysis of data by the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).
Paul Edmunds from the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit says: “Working in collaboration with BMT allows us to benefit from the expertise they have to offer and build sophisticated data capabilities more quickly. I have no doubt that this collaboration will have a direct impact on our cyber capabilities and how we tackle serious cyber-crime going forward.”
Tasked with leading the UK’s response to cyber-crime, the NCCU delivers a spectrum of data platforms and analysis tools to develop valuable insights and respond quickly to rapidly changing threats. With many systems currently in operation, this specific project, in partnership with BMT, will see the NCCU pull these systems into one single common cyber data platform. This central platform will then help to improve data analysis tools and access to information by providing a clear, accurate and interactive solution.
Simon Luck, Head of Information Systems and Information Assurance at BMT explains: “We’re delighted to be working with the NCCU on this project. We have significant expertise and experience of working with the key technologies required by NCA including search technologies, graph databases, entity extraction techniques and relationship analysis. This project also reinforces our technical skills and know-how within cyber and data analytics to deliver a solution within the timeframes set out.”
