Dennis de Bruin is Managing Director of BMT's Surveys division with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom and Singapore.

Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nautical Studies and Marine Engineering and is a certified first maritime officer. He has seven years of seagoing experience on board chemical tankers and general cargo vessels.

Dennis joined BMT in 2004 and has since then specialised in investigating claims and casualties in the oil and chemical sectors. With over 25 years in the tanker and liquid cargo industry he has developed extensive expertise in investigating off-spec cargo and contamination issues involving chemical and oil products, as well as handling shortage claims and terminal operations. He also investigated several major explosion and cargo tank overpressure incidents, both domestically and internationally.

In addition to his work in tanker-related matters, Dennis has established a significant track record in investigating a wide range of marine incidents. This includes container losses, where he led and coordinated large scale investigations in collaboration with insurance companies, law firms, salvage companies and local authorities, both domestically and internationally.

Dennis has prepared numerous expert reports and has acted as an expert witness in both litigation and arbitration proceedings including cases before London Arbitration tribunals and Dutch Courts.
