Bas Dijk

Bas Dijk was dual educated both as deck officer and marine engineer. He gained seven years of seagoing experience as a deck officer in various ranks on a variety of vessels, including container vessels and chemical/oil tankers.

Bas sailed as deck officer on chemical tankers for five years, at a renowned shipping company operating in the North, Baltic and Mediterranean seas. He gained extensive experience in tanker operations and navigation.

Since joining BMT in 2022, Bas has focussed mainly on nautical investigations and cargo claims obtaining specialist training in technical reefer issues and analysing reefer data log reports. In 2024, Bas was certified to carry out ultrasonic hatch cover tightness testing. Over the course of his career at BMT he has gained experience in a variety of cases; for example, liquid cargo contaminations, various bulk cases, stevedore damages and cargo shifts.
