Bas Dijk

Mariner and Marine Engineer / Marine Surveyor

Bas Dijk has a Bachelor of Science in Nautical Studies; he was dual educated both as deck officer and marine engineer.  He gained seven years of seagoing experience as a deck officer in various ranks on a variety of vessels, including container vessels and chemical/oil tankers.

Bas sailed as deck officer on chemical tankers for five years, at a renowned shipping company operating chemical tankers in the North, Baltic and Mediterranean seas and gained extensive experience in tanker operations and navigation.

Bas joined BMT in 2022 and spent his first year focused on cargo and nautical investigations such as reefer claims, obtaining specialist training in technical reefer issues and analysing reefer data log reports.  Over the course of 2023, as his experience grew, he has handled several wetting damages, cargo shifts, and stevedore damages.  More recently he has been involved in many tanker cases, which involved cargo losses and cargo contamination.
