Angelo Caspanni holds a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam. He began his shore-based career by working for two specialist engineering companies, where he expanded his expertise in ship engines—both two-stroke and four-stroke—while sharpening his technical report writing and troubleshooting skills. His deep understanding of shipboard systems, including propulsion systems, electrical systems, and HVAC, has made him a highly efficient troubleshooter and problem-solver, able to address complex mechanical issues with ease.
Since joining BMT in 2024, as an expert in Marine Engineering, Angelo has focused on Hull and Machinery (H&M) claims and casualty investigations and continues to apply his technical expertise and practical experience on behalf of BMT in the maritime industry.
Angelo has been actively involved in complex casualty investigations, including machinery failures, ballast water treatment system incidents, and stevedore damage cases. His work includes detailed timeline reconstruction, analysis of technical data (including VDR and system logs), and preparation of expert reports for insurers and legal stakeholders. He regularly attends vessels, shipyards and terminals to assess damage, monitor repairs, and coordinate with class, contractors and vessel management.
