About The Role
The Strategic Partnerships Lead is a senior Future Business role responsible for shaping and advancing BMT’s strategic partnership agenda across consulting, IT, engineering services and technology ecosystems within the UK and Europe region. The role is accountable for building high-value alliances that strengthen market position, expand access to clients and capabilities, and enable differentiated solutions, innovative delivery models and long-term growth.
Operating within the Future Business model, the role is accountable for defining and executing a coherent partnership strategy aligned to BMT’s regional growth ambitions, sector priorities and measurable commercial outcomes. The post holder will identify, prioritise and lead strategic alliances that enhance BMT’s market relevance, extend access to new clients and capabilities, and support the development of differentiated, outcome-focused offers.
The role translates strategic partnerships into growth outcomes, including partner-enabled pipeline creation, improved access to priority customers, stronger capture positioning, differentiated propositions, increased win probability and contribution to Order Intake, profit and sustainable regional growth. It is not an account sales execution role and does not replace Sales or BD ownership of accounts, markets or opportunities. Instead, it works alongside Senior Business Development Managers, Sales Account Leads and Capture Leads to identify where partners can strengthen customer access, routes to market, proposition quality, teaming strategy and opportunity conversion.
The role works closely with sector, capability, sales, delivery, commercial, legal and supply chain colleagues to establish and enable partnership models that support co-bid, co-sell and co-delivery approaches. This includes developing Memoranda of Understanding and strategic relationship arrangements with selected companies, embedding partners into service offerings where appropriate, and creating the internal alignment required to support effective cross-entity and partner-enabled delivery.
The Strategic Partnerships Lead will bring strategic judgement, commercial credibility and strong influencing capability, with the ability to operate effectively across organisational boundaries and with senior internal and external stakeholders. As a Career Level 6 leader, the post holder is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, make evidence-based recommendations, challenge assumptions, influence senior stakeholders and lead complex cross-functional and partner-enabled activity that supports sustainable, profitable growth.
About You
You are a commercially minded and highly collaborative partnership leader who thrives in complex environments and is comfortable working across organisational boundaries. Forward-looking and innovative, you can navigate ambiguity with confidence, using evidence-based insight to make recommendations and constructively challenge assumptions to deliver stronger strategic, commercial and partnership outcomes.
You will bring proven experience in strategic partnerships, alliances or ecosystem development, supported by a strong network across consulting, engineering, IT and technology sectors. You have a track record of developing and implementing partnership strategies that drive growth, market differentiation, pipeline development and commercial success. Your experience includes supporting business development, sales and capture activities through partner selection, teaming strategies, customer engagement, proposition development and route-to-market planning.
Commercially astute, you understand how to structure complex partnership agreements with consideration for pricing, margin, risk and reward, governance, delivery responsibilities and long-term value creation. You possess excellent stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation and communication skills, enabling you to build credibility with senior leaders, strategic partners and customer-facing teams. Experience of collaborative working frameworks, consulting or engineering delivery models, and structured sales and capture processes would be advantageous.
