Location: In terms of location, our office is in Bath, and we are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Please note that travel to customer sites or to attend meetings will be required.

About The Role
We are seeking a Bid Manager to join our Future Business team at BMT on a fixed term basis. Reporting to the Head of Bidding, you will play a key part in planning and managing the end-to-end bid process. This role involves working with colleagues across the business, as well as external partners and clients, to deliver high-quality bids that help us win new work.
You will be responsible for coordinating activities across a range of disciplines, developing bid plans and strategies, and ensuring all submissions meet our standards for quality and compliance. The Bid Manager will also support wider work-winning activities and contribute to continuous improvement in our bidding practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, coordinating and managing the entire bid process for assigned bids
- Gathering technical, commercial and financial information from across the business
- Managing bid teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders
- Acting as the main point of contact for bids you lead
- Ensuring compliance with corporate processes and documentation
- Reviewing and formatting bid deliverables for quality and consistency
- Organising and facilitating bid workshops and meetings
- Monitoring bid delivery against agreed timescales and requirements
- Supporting the development of winning strategies and messaging
- Conducting bid debriefs and lessons learned sessions
- Maintaining records and updating standard materials for bids
- Driving best practice and looking for ways to improve our win rate
About You
You will be highly motivated and take pride in supporting work-winning activities. With a strong track record in bid management or major tender preparation (minimum five years), you will have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high standards.
You are adaptable and able to respond to changing requirements, working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and senior management. Your communication skills are excellent, both written and verbal, and you are comfortable presenting information to different audiences.
You are organised, able to prioritise a busy workload, and confident in managing deadlines. You enjoy finding new and effective ways to solve problems and are dedicated to exceeding expectations. A positive attitude and the ability to lead and motivate others are essential.
Experience in the defence, engineering or consultancy sectors is desirable, as is a good understanding of bidding practice and procurement processes. Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications, are required.
