BMT’s Water Resources team is growing, and we are looking for Junior Flooding Engineers to join us in our Sydney office. Learn from the best, and join one of Australia’s leading specialist flood teams, with access to the TUFLOW development team. We have multiple positions available for graduates through to junior level consultants seeking an opportunity to advance their career in flood modelling, investigation, and floodplain management.
This team's work is diverse, and you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects like:
- Catchment-Wide Flood Studies and Floodplain Risk Management Studies for Local and State Government Clients
- Flood Modelling to inform flood risk and emergency management and support major developments across Australia for some of Australia’s biggest businesses
- Flood Assessments for Major Linear Infrastructure Projects
About you
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-5 years of professional experience in flood engineering, flood modelling, floodplain management, or a similar role. Role offered will be based on experience level.
- Experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., TUFLOW), GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), and other relevant software applications.
- Knowledge of flood risk assessment methodologies, floodplain zoning, flood management strategies, and relevant legislation and regulations.
- Experience in conducting flood investigations, analysing flood data, and interpreting flood modelling results.
- Interest in wider field of water resources including hydrogeology and water efficiency;
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex flood-related challenges.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, and to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
