- Enhancing Hong Kong's Position as an International Maritime Centre
Maritime trade plays a key role in the regional economies of Asia Pacific.
Governments across the region have taken an interest in developing maritime industry service clusters.
While Hong Kong has a rich maritime heritage, the local Government has identified a need to enhance and maximise its competitive advantage as a world-class International Maritime Centre (IMC).
BMT was appointed to develop a roadmap and strategy that will sustain Hong Kong’s position as a successful IMC in the years ahead.
The study was conducted utilising extensive industry engagement to examine the context and economic significance of Hong Kong’s maritime cluster, as well as the key challenges it faces as an IMC.
Key deliverables included strategies to maximise the development potential of maritime activities and service areas, in particular the contestable services, which have been targeted by competing IMCs.
