A mathematical model of the moored design vessel in loaded and ballast conditions was used during the simulations. The passing vessel was modelled in loaded condition only. Mooring lines and fenders were modelled based on information provided by Shell. The mooring plan used was according to instructions from Shell and OCIMF guidelines.

BMT's REMBRANDT real time manoeuvring training software will be the basis of the simulator. The simulator will provide a realistic hands-on facility for tug captains to develop safe operating strategies for the tow and develop rational weather and tide operating limits.
