The Energy Industries Council (EIC) has shortlisted BMT’s Soma Maroju for the rising star award at the EIC National Awards Dinner that will be held virtually on 3 December.
The EIC Rising Star Award, with support from Robert Gordon University (RGU), is an initiative designed to support the development of future leaders of the energy sector and recognises the emerging talent in the field.
Recognising high potential managers in the energy and oil and gas industries, Soma has been picked by the judges at EIC/RGU for his innovation work on BMT DEEP - an interactive asset data monitoring platform designed for Offshore by BMT. BMT DEEP enables asset managers to make real-time, data driven decisions to maximise the value of their asset base while simultaneously helping them to reduce costs and increase efficiency across their major critical infrastructure assets.
Soma began the initial development of BMT DEEP after recognising a customer need for a platform that could handle the large volumes of data modern monitoring equipment produces over the lifetime of the asset. In time, and with Soma’s leadership of the development team, the product evolved into BMT DEEP, which now counts as an industrial leader in deep-water technology and processes that energy companies use today to apply round-the-clock, real-time monitoring of drilling operations from offshore.
Commenting on the news, Soma said:
“I am extremely proud to have been nominated and now shortlisted for this award. Being down selected from my incredible colleagues at BMT for the nomination and now shortlisted by the EIC is a real honour.”
Adding to Soma’s comments, Shane Amaratunga, BMT’s Portfolio Managing Director for Environment and Infrastructure said:
“On behalf of the leadership team at BMT, I’m delighted to hear the news that Soma has been shortlisted as a finalist for the next rising star award. The work that he undertakes is making a real difference to our customers and demonstrated the talent and the organisation’s approach to innovative thinking”.
We wish Soma luck, and have our fingers crossed for more good news at the virtual awards ceremony on the 3rd of December.
