At the 9th Maritime Safety Forum held in Abbeywood; BMT Asset Performance, a subsidiary of BMT Group, in collaboration with the Defence Maritime Regulator (DMR), launched the Maritime Legislation Database (MLD) to the MOD DE&S community.
Key stakeholders came together for this pan-maritime enterprise event to witness demonstrations of the new and improved database. This new tool provides duty holders for platforms, equipment and operations with an easier platform to demonstrate compliance of the applicable safety and environmental protection legislation.
BMT Asset Performance with support from sister company, BMT Defence Services, has delivered improved functionality which includes the ability to integrate compliance status into an industry standard template. Furthermore, utilising what is now a ‘live’ database and being able to routinely update the status removes the costly requirement of re-assessing legislative compliance.
Mike Prince, Managing Director of BMT Asset Performance comments: “Being able to deliver a consistent approach by centrally capturing and managing the legislative requirements was key. The MLD now enables the DMR to manage and share vital information in a much more coherent way.”
