Chief Combat Systems Engineer Jay Hart joins BMT Defence Services
BMT Defence Services Ltd, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international defence design, engineering and risk management consultancy, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jay Hart as Chief Combat Systems Engineer.
With over 30 years of experience serving in the Royal Navy as a Combat Systems Engineer and Project Manager, Jay comes to BMT with a wealth of experience in the maritime combat systems domain. Jay started his career as the Deputy Weapons Engineering Officer in HMS CHURCHILL and recently retired as a Commodore from his final appointment as the Head of the Bowman & Tactical CIS delivery team within the MoD's DE&S. During Jay's career, he has acquired considerable experience in all aspects of the acquisition and through life management of combat systems, working on projects such as the Vanguard Class Tactical Weapons System, the Royal Australian Navy Collins Class, and as project manager for the Swiftsure & Trafalgar Class update project.
Muir Macdonald, Managing Director of BMT Defence Services says: "The rapid rate of technology change, the desire for more flexible and open systems, and the systems engineering challenge of integrating fighting capability into ships, submarines and other platforms mean that customers are increasingly in need of independent consulting engineering in this field. A stronger combat systems capability will complement BMT's existing strengths in warship and submarine design, other marine engineering disciplines and its growing systems engineering capabilities. BMT are therefore delighted to welcome Jay to the team."
On his appointment Jay says: "I am excited at the prospect of this leading role in the growth of BMT Defence Services' combat system capabilities. I am particularly pleased to be working for a company that has such a strong professional engineering ethos, and one that prides itself in the provision of genuinely independent advice and support to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and other customers. I am passionate about helping the MoD to deliver equipment capability to the front line user more effectively and efficiently, and believe that my new role in BMT will enable us to make a real difference."
