Jeroen de Haas is the Managing Director of BMT's Surveys company. He has a Bachelor of Science in Nautical and Marine Engineering studies from the Maritime Institute De Ruyter, Flushing and holds a maritime officer foreign-going certificate of competency with combined qualification for deck officer and marine engineer. He also holds an honours degree in Maritime Sciences, gained (cum laude) at the University of Antwerp.

Alongside his management activities, Jeroen acts as a marine consultant in issues related to the transport of containers, in particular lashing and securing matters, container collapse incidents and containership fires. He has written expert reports in litigation, arbitration and mediation procedures around the world and has given expert evidence for tribunals and courts in London, New York, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. He is accredited by the Dutch Registrar of Judicial Experts (LRGD) to act as expert witness in civil, administrative and criminal law cases.

Jeroen is a guest lecturer of the Dutch Shipping and Transport College, organises yearly claims seminars for the Dutch Maritime Industry and practical training courses for the international shipping industry. He has also given a number of Master Classes to law students at the Rotterdam High School and Rotterdam Erasmus University and provides traineeships for graduates. He is a regular speaker at international marine conferences.
