Defence and security

Alongside main platform design, we are also able to deliver a turnkey, integrated service to meet other defence contract requirements such as C4i, ILS, Technical Manuals, Safety Case, Human Factors.

Our designs combine speed with seakeeping and crew comfort. With speeds from 25 to 50 knots, our proven designs for high-speed patrol boats and theater support vessels range from 10 to 80m. The hullforms used for our Seafighter hybrid Semi-SWATH and Hercules 150 designs provide exceptional seakeeping to deliver improved motions and crew comfort.

Speed, seakeeping and crew comfort also define our advanced high-speed landing craft designs. Our MSV (L) design and recently contracted US Army MSV(L) are based on our innovative Caimen hullform.

BMT is able to offer a comprehensive platform design service. We are known for our naval architecture heritage and have been involved in the design of numerous types of naval vessel including the new RN Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers, the Type 26 Frigate through the Naval Design Partnering arrangement and of course the Aegir® family of replenishment vessels, of which the UK MARS tankers are an example. We are also involved submarine design, both conventional and nuclear powered.

BMT has an ever expanding range of proven vessel designs with the portfolio including vessels ranging in size from 9m to 220m in length and speeds up to 70 knots.
