Data science and data analytics

  • Natural Language Programming: our expertise covers Entity Disambiguation, Search and Content Management Systems at Scale and interactive document search supporting decision making.
  • Prediction/Machine learning: our experts have worked in many problem domains from using machine learning in predictive maintenance for fast jets, fluid dynamics fatigue based monitoring, use of fuzzy logic techniques to detect anomalous, suspect patterns in ship movements and machine-learned algorithms that enable UAVs to perform perched landings.
  • Data modeling and Data fusion: we support decision makers by exploiting multiple data feeds with methods for tracking and visualizing uncertainty, as well as reducing the burden on users through data reduction techniques. Through the fusion of multiple sources of data and information, we are able to represent the same real-world objects in a consistent, accurate and useful manner, and to reduce uncertainty. Our services include: Statistical and Mathematical Modelling (Predictive analysis, Time series analysis, Operational analysis, and Exploratory analysis)'; Mining Structured and unstructured data to identify patterns, changes and trends.
  • Data visualization: ‘visualisation’ is the representation of data using visual means. BMT has extensive experience in representing data through visual means to aid decision making and sensemaking. Our visualization design process starts with establishing the visualization’s purpose (its reason for existing) and its intended function and tone (e.g. Analytical/Pragmatic, Explanatory (Telling Stories), Abstract/Emotive and Exploratory/Finding Stories).  We use UX/UI testing and work with end users to ensure that they are fit for purpose and help the user to make sense of the issue.

Developing effective visualizations start from a clearly articulated goal for the visualization and are based on a detailed understanding of the audience. Of course, they rely on a thorough understanding of the data. They also evolve through iteration. We bring these abilities to each project, whether an initial concept design to fully interactive simulated environments like our immersive training platform.
