Wind tunnel facilities
We’re proud to be able to draw on a wealth of experience drawn from nearly three quarters of a century of wind tunnel operations gained with one of the largest and best-instrumented boundary-layer wind tunnel facilities in the world.
Thanks to our global partnering arrangements, we can now extend the reach of our expert teams and improve the way we deliver our wind engineering knowledge via a range of top-scale wind tunnel facilities. This not only allows us to offer a greater range of wind engineering services but it also allows us to operate dynamically and flexibly and ensure we continue to deliver exceptional quality and service to our customers on a more local basis.
Some of the wind tunnel facilities we currently use include:
- Venturi Asia wind tunnel. We partnered with Fenestra Malaysia to develop the “Venturi Asia” tunnel - a world-class new boundary-layer tunnel facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As the only fully commercial facility of its kind in South East Asia, it supports the rapid urbanisation of the region and brings unmatched wind tunnel testing facilities and environmental physics support to the doorstep of many of our SE Asia customers. The facility is supported by a local Malaysian wind engineering team together with our expertise from around the world.
- Imperial College wind tunnel - A 10x5 highly reconfigurable temperature-controlled wind tunnel facility used for aerodynamic development and safety evaluation studies of road and race cars, aircraft, buildings and structures.
- Cranfield University wind tunnel – A purpose-built 8x4 atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel designed specifically to simulate flow fields associated with atmospheric winds.
- University of Genoa DICCA wind tunnel – A closed loop subsonic circuit wind tunnel which features two different test sections, an atmospheric boundary layer section and an aerodynamic and aeroelastic section ideally suited for testing of sectional models of bridge decks.
We perform wind tunnel tests in full compliance with accepted standards of internationally recognised codes of practice, and we are certified for quality assurance of wind engineering services to ISO 9001:2015. Our customers can therefore rely on us to deliver consistently quality services around the world.
