Senior Marine Surveyor

Ruurd Simonides studied Marine Engineer and subsequently obtained the third mates certificate.

He sailed on tankers as integrated officer (MarOFF) in both the nautical and technical departments.

Ruurd obtained additional degrees in shipbuilding and mate on sea going sailing ships afterwards. Left the merchant fleet after obtaining his chief engineers certificate.

He was employed by a marine survey bureau in the P&I and transport sector from 1991 for a period of in total 11 years. This period was interrupted by an employment of 5 years by a Class association, specialized in sailing ships.

He joined BMT in 2007.

Working areas: marine engineering, general shipbuilding, cargo and transport problems and other P&I matter.
