We offer a comprehensive platform design service, have a rich naval architecture heritage, and have designed numerous types of maritime vessels and submarines. Our proven designs combine speed with excellent seakeeping and crew comfort at 25 to 50 knots for high-speed patrol boats and theatre support vessels from 10m to 80m in length.
As well as main platform designs, we also deliver a turnkey, integrated service to meet other defence contract requirements such as C4i, ILS, Technical Manuals, Safety Case and Human Factors.
Our Seafighter hybrid Semi-SWATH and Hercules 150 hull forms provide exceptional seakeeping and improved motions and crew comfort.
Speed, seakeeping, and crew comfort also define our advanced high-speed landing craft designs. Our MSV(L) design and recently contracted US Army MSV(L) are based on our innovative Caimen hull form.
We have a wealth of experience across the entire design cycle and provide technical expertise to analyse workplace ergonomics and integrate safety considerations into every design.
Engineering CAD to XR conversion
Converting engineering CADs for virtual or augmented reality can be costly. Our approach and tools enable this to be economical and scale up to assets as significant as aircraft carriers!

Supporting Design Reviews
Achieve compartment sign off by “walking” through the compartment in VR.
Designing complex engineering assets can be a slow and expensive process - particularly when late changes add cost and delays to the programme.
By digitising your assets and presenting them as 3D designs, they can be tested and validated before they are built, enabling you to spot and rectify issues early and thus minimising risks and costs.
We use the latest gaming and scanning technology to capture physical assets or digitise them from engineering drawings and then make them available to support design reviews throughout the asset’s life cycle. We can translate CAD to XR and display it fully immersive using affordable consumer technologies or on standard screens to support appraisals or technical investigations.
We work closely and collaboratively with you to integrate Human Factors into our designs. We provide comprehensive HFI services to integrate human considerations into every system element, thereby enhancing its performance, reducing lifecycle costs, and minimising the risk of injury or loss.
We use 2D and 3D physics-based modelling to conduct anthropometric assessments, an essential component of our system design. We first identify the appropriate data to ensure that the plan will suit the defined user group’s physical characteristics. Users can then assume the necessary postures and reach and operate the required controls to comfortably perform their jobs.
We use the most advanced Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality technologies to identify and mitigate human factors-related issues early in the development cycle and thus minimise the cost of design changes. These technologies help identify any possible physical, ergonomic or cognitive issues by replicating the environment in which the tasks are performed and any constraints that might influence the complete system’s performance.
We apply HF standards to help design tasks, workflow, equipment, facilities, and systems. We also interpret HF design standards to your specific needs and identify practicable means of demonstrating compliance.
We make our designs usable and intuitive through user-centred design and user experience processes that help develop and assess against Human-Machine interfaces (HMI) and Human-Computer Interface (HCI) user requirements.
We use a holistic systems approach to assess the human behaviour around online processes and organisational constructs, and we conduct culture assessments, either preventatively or in response to security breaches.
We analyse human performance aspects such as workload, situational awareness, and human error during each development cycle to determine the effectiveness of new technological interventions on mission effectiveness and safety.
We continually research a wide range of proposed improvements to the naval design and use this to provide objective, measurable improvement across a range of important metrics that are particularly relevant to specialise, dangerous, or complex operations and tasks.
