The aim of the workshop, hosted by Bristol Council’s City Innovation Team, is to explore how the distribution sector is evolving, the impact of new technology, how these changes will affect the region and how to prepare for them. The event will start with “technology tasters” from Daniela Paddeu and Graham Parkhurst (University of the West of England), Gavin Bailey (TRL) and Richard Westgarth (IET / BMT).
These short sessions will be followed with a collaborative exploration of how distribution is already changing and how it might change in the future. The participants will then explore further how the Bristol region should prepare for change.
Richard Westgarth is Head of Campaigns at BMT, with a particular focus on Collaborative Autonomous Systems. A co-author of the Global Marine Technology Trends 2030, Richard is currently looking at the impact the fourth industrial revolution will have on the maritime sector. He is a Chartered Electronics Engineer, a Member of the IET, a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufacture and Commerce.
