21st RRC Annual Conference

21st RRC Annual Conference

RRC is the national expert advice centre for best practice river restoration, habitat enhancement and catchment management. It provides a focal point for the exchange and dissemination of information and expertise. The Centre also provides advice on site-specific technical issues through a core team of experienced staff and a wider network of experienced river restoration practitioners.

The River Restoration Centre's (RRC) Annual Network Conference brings together professionals from all areas of river restoration. This year's event will be run online over two days and includes around 50 speakers, workshop sessions and many other opportunities to network and make new contacts.

BMT will present an online poster on both days discussing 'Whole Catchment Modelling to Assess Natural Flood Management Options'.

Using BMTs renown flood modelling software TUFLOW it is now possible to create whole catchment digital twins which can be applied to flood management, including geomorphology and Natural Flood Management (NFM). Large and complex catchment models that need to represent long periods of time can now be run much quicker and more efficiently enabling normal computers to run whole catchment virtual models/ digital twins with full validation/ calibration against observed conditions.
