Associate Director

I have always felt really well looked after at BMT. Being part of an employee-owned company, you feel supported and motivated in ways you might not elsewhere. The Employee Benefit Trust (EBT), for example, empowers and rewards staff, and helps to foster a strong sense of commitment and care. Personally, I have also benefited from generous financial support that enabled me to complete a Masters Degree when I was at a junior level. I was really grateful for the opportunity to pursue my academic goals, although juggling BMT projects and degree assignments at the same time was quite an undertaking!

Based in Hong Kong, I am currently the team leader of the Environmental Section in the BMT Asia Pacific Hong Kong office.  My role is mainly Project Director for all projects undertaken by our team, team management and business development.  My career within BMT started from being an assistant supporting senior staff with carrying out technical assessments.

As an Environmental Consultant, I learned how to coordinate and manage projects on my own which ensured I got a full understanding of the project not only on the technical side, but also an overview of the entire project administration process. My main tasks were to assess the air quality and noise impacts from construction and operational stages, and propose suitable mitigation measures to minimise environmental impacts. It was a really interesting area, applying environmental expertise to high-level engineering projects. And it is nice to know that my work benefits communities, while also enabling customers to operate in an environmentally sustainable way.

Being a senior staff member in the team allows me to have larger involvement on business development and junior staff development, through training and coaching. I suppose the very fact of my work demonstrates the sheer diversity of BMT's services. I find it exciting and challenging to be an environmental team leader within a group that also specialises, for example, in maritime technology. For employees this means that there's a range of projects to get involved in. There is a wealth of expertise and opportunities within BMT, and I like that a lot.
