We have many years’ experience in all aspects of ship manoeuvring from full-scale trials, free running and captive model tests to mathematical prediction and simulation.
Our ship hydrodynamic models are fully calibrated against sea trials, pilot cards and mariners experienced in the navigation of relevant vessels. A wide range of environmental conditions are captured. These include: reduced visibility, day/night settings, wind and current shielding, multi-directional swells and spatially variable current flows. Physical phenomena such as squat, bank effects and ship-to-ship interaction are all modelled.
One of the key features over the next two or three decades will be the increased interaction between fully manned ships, reduced manned ships and autonomous vessels in shared water spaces and how big data, new sensors and data analytics can support safe navigation.
The hydrodynamic rigour applied to the ship modelling response and the environmental modelling allows BMT REMBRANDT to model and simulate with confidence a wide range of safety critical operations in shipping and floating oil and gas.
