Your role is at the core of everything BMT does. You will help us craft technically creative and significant web applications for customers around the world, developing your skills and career in a supportive environment.
Are you looking to apply your software engineering knowledge to new and varied challenges? If so, this role may be for you.
What’s the role?
As part of our ambitious growth plans, new and exciting roles are being created within our expanding Information Systems team. You will join an energetic multi-disciplinary team, delivering bespoke services using web technologies in the space, defence and security sectors. You will collaborate with UX designers, software developers, test specialists, data scientists and other technology SMEs, sharing your skills, knowledge and learning to deliver solutions that allow our clients to make important decisions.
We are now looking for new Scrum Masters with practical experience of coaching high-performing teams, engaging directly with customers and users to understand their problems, and helping to shape and deliver elegant solutions to those problems.
Flexible and remote working is available, so we welcome applications from those not based in the Bath area - we have offices in Plymouth, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Barrow, and London too. Travel to customer sites or to attend certain meetings may be required.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for Scrum Masters or Agile practitioners who can provide support and guidance to a team of developers to help them reach their full potential. If you have a strong understanding of Agile frameworks and methodologies, and experience of applying them successfully, we would welcome your application.
We really value your ability to create a positive, trusting environment, where the development team can share ideas, identify problems, and learn lessons. We build our teams around passionate engineers with curious minds, and your role will be vital in helping us innovate and iterate towards great dynamic web systems for our customers. Some of those customers may be new to Agile and used to other ways of working, so you will need to be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels and adaptable, tailoring our processes where necessary to meet their specific challenges.
We are excited to work with you because you are an enthusiastic and inquisitive communicator, collaborator and implementer. As servant-leader to an agile, responsive development team, you will have one eye on the various tasks currently in play and another on the wider customer vision. You will guide the team in refining, designing, testing and releasing quality software, pushing them to continuously improve and automate development processes wherever possible. You will work closely with customers and Product Owners to meet the changing needs of their users, and support delivery managers by identifying risks and contributing to formal audits to maintain our accreditation. Our projects cross into areas as diverse as Mixed-Reality immersive training, AI and Machine Learning, Big Data and Cyber security, so you could get the chance to work on some extremely novel projects and explore new disciplines.
The successful candidates will need to hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Government security clearance at SC level.
What can we offer you?
We believe in hiring the best talent from diverse backgrounds, as this introduces new ideas to the team and our customers. This role will be part of the wider Information Systems team, which is growing fast and works across different space, defence and security markets.
We ensure that our people have access to the training and mentoring they need to be the best at what they do. We constantly strive to improve our working environment and provide everyone with the tools and applications they need to do their roles effectively. You will have the chance to work and play with the latest software technologies, and we will support your professional development with licences and subscriptions.
The wellbeing of the team is central to our success, so workloads are managed effectively and we don’t have a work late culture. On top of this we have a host of benefits and family friendly policies designed to support our people. We also run an annual hackathon where the whole team can really let loose and experiment.
