Project Manager - Information Systems
Your role is at the core of everything BMT does, delivering high quality projects for our customers ranging from specialist consultancy to important research and development projects.
Are you looking to apply your project management knowledge and experience to new and varied challenges, supporting a diversity of projects across a broad spectrum of the UK defence and security sector? If so, this role may be for you.
What’s the role?
As part of our ambitious growth plans, new and exciting roles are being created within our expanding multi-disciplinary Information Systems team. This role is ideal for Project Managers with a background in Application/Software Development, with experience and qualifications aligned to Level 3 of the SFIA Foundation Framework.
We can be flexible on location and we’re happy to offer remote working too. As well as our main offices in central Bath we also have offices in Plymouth, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Barrow and London. There will also be also some travel required to customer sites or to attend meetings.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Project Manager who can lead and manage software project teams to design, develop and deliver class-leading web and mobile based applications using the most appropriate technologies. You can analyse customer requirements, produce an appropriate scope and, in response, create a carefully resourced plan of work. The role requires an appreciation of resource management to ensure that project plans are managed appropriately and that future demands are highlighted in advance. To be successful in this role you will have excellent attention to detail, being able to manage project budgets through careful financial management, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high level of quality.
You will support the evaluation of tenders, writing bids and proposals. Additionally, you will build relationships with customers - gathering requirements and providing advice on business processes and potential solutions through the development of suitable and relevant software products. A key part of the role is to ensure the Company Management Information System is kept up to date and that monthly project reporting activities are completed on time.
As a software Project Manager you will have excellent organisational skills, with a proven background in technical project management in a Microsoft development environment. As much of our work is directly customer focused, your ability to present and articulate technically complex work clearly to stakeholders is important.
We are open to applicants who can demonstrate different levels of project management knowledge and experience, who are able to offer a pragmatic and professional approach to managing projects. We value professional qualifications and professional registration with appropriate institutions, although these are not a requirement in applying for this role. We can provide support, training and tailored experience in order for you to achieve these, if not already held.
Please note, some of the roles within the Information Systems practice are reserved for UK Nationals only and will be subject to security checks.
What can we offer you?
We believe in hiring the best talent, from diverse backgrounds, as this introduces new ideas to the team and our customers. This role will be part of the wider Information Systems team which is growing fast and works across different space, defence and security sectors and markets.
At BMT we appreciate the importance of having a solid development structure. We ensure that our people have access to the training and mentoring that they need to be the best at what they do.
