Are you looking to apply your knowledge to new and varied questions - from helping and advising customers with projects to supporting the creation and realisation of new systems? If so, this role may be for you.
We have opportunities to join our growing team of Data Specialists, across Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Solution Architects. We can be flexible on location, either in our main offices in central Bath or remote working. Flexible working is available so we welcome applications from those not based in the Bath area – we have offices in Plymouth, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Barrow, Glasgow and London too. There is travel required to customer sites or to attend meetings, with many of our customers being in the South West and London areas.
What’s the role?
Due to our growth plans, a new and exciting role is being created within our expanding multi-disciplinary Information Systems team. The role is ideal for an experienced Solution Architect with significant experience in cloud architecture and the defence and security domains. You can expect to work with other Data Scientists, Software Developers and technology focussed Consultants and domain experts providing new solution architectures to specific business problems, infrastructure and across functional areas.
As Solution Architect, you will lead on the development of solution architectures, with a growing emphasis on cloud-based solutions, ensuring that appropriate tools and methods are available and employed correctly. As part of customer change programmes, you will steer the preparation of technical plans and ensure that these are deliverable within the available constraints. You will be able to select, adopt and adapt appropriate solution design methods, tools and techniques, selecting the appropriate approach to the given problem. Your advice and experience will be essential to understanding the impact of changes, as well as mitigating potential risks.
As Solution Architect you will be able to set standards for data modelling, design tools and techniques and advise on their application whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and business demands. As a data expert you will provide expert guidance in the selection, provision and use of database and data warehouse architectures, ETL tooling and processes, data governance and management, and software and facilities.
You will be part of larger project teams, often as the Solution Architect on the project, or run small projects as Technical Delivery Lead where appropriate. You can expect to liaise with clients to clarify aspects of requirements, as well as developing subject matter around data management, architectures and analytics.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a good background in solution architecture, alongside cloud experience. The role is ideal for an experienced Solution Architect with a background in defence and security.
We value professional qualifications and registration with professional institutions and can provide training, tailored experience and support to achieve these, if not already held.
As much of our work is directly customer focused, your ability to present and articulate complex principles or information clearly to stakeholders is important.
Please note, some of the projects within our Information Systems team require UK Government security clearance. The successful candidate will need to hold, or be able to gain, UK Government security clearance at SC level.
What can we offer you?
We believe in hiring the best talent, from diverse backgrounds, as this introduces new ideas to the team and our customers. This role will be part of the wider Information Systems team which is growing fast and works across different defence and security sectors and markets.
