About the role

BMT is currently going through an exciting period of growth and we’re looking for a Junior Buyer to join our small and busy Portfolio team. You will be part of a friendly and dynamic team, at the heart of our commercial relationships.

Reporting to the Procurement Lead, you will be responsible for the management of supplier relationships and for running effective competitions within the supply chain.  You will ensure that competitions are open and fair, deal with supplier clarifications and provide appropriate and timely feedback.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Proactively working with Bid and Project Managers to support delivery of the supply chain component of contracts/projects
  • Interacting with commercial and contract delivery teams
  • Day to day operation of the electronic procurement process
  • Supplier management and stakeholder engagement
  • Maintaining procurement and supply chain management records
  • Managing and prioritising individual workload
  • Providing support to the preparation of company offers, to the required standard and deadlines
  • Driving continual improvement in our company processes

About you

We are keen to hear about your experience in running competitions for the provision of services, undertaking procurement liaison and ensuring commercial coherence down the supply chain. Tell us about your: 

  • Previous experience of operating within a large contract environment (this does not necessarily have to be in the Defence domain)
  • CIPS Level 3 or equivalent commercial experience
  • Flexibility, adaptability and genuine enthusiasm to contribute to the growth of a business
  • Effective communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability as a ‘Completer Finisher’
  • Ability to perform effectively when working as part of a team or when acting independently with support from colleagues
