What’s the role?
We are looking to develop a multi-disciplinary team to support our work in Integrated Logistics Support and specifically in ILS Information and Knowledge Management whether this be in the maritime domains (Defence and Commercial) or other areas such as air and land.
This is a growth area for BMT and so we are looking for individuals to help develop a new suite of capabilities to support a range of internal initiatives and external opportunities.
Our people lead on complex technical engineering projects, often independently, are subject matter experts in one or more aspects of Engineering, Information Systems and Logistics Support and have a role in winning new business for the team as well as supporting our other business streams.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for people with the following skills and experience to join our team:
A sound working knowledge of DefStan 00-600 and the underlying ILS principles;
Experience in the delivery of engineering support solutions and associated engineering support information systems, ideally to complex warships;
Experience of working in complex equipment programmes, particularly in the development and deployment of support solutions;
A minimum of HND / foundation degree (or equivalent) level education in a relevant ILS, IS or engineering discipline;
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
The successful candidate can be based in our Bath office althought alternative options would be considered.
The following would be highly advantageous:
Registration with a Professional Institution with either Incorporated or Chartered or equivalent status;
An understanding of the challenges presented in the development, deployment and use of information and knowledge management systems in equipment, systems and platform support regimes;
An understanding of how ILS IKM systems may be deployed to replace legacy systems and engineering support methods and the associated transition issues;
An understanding of the safety issues associated with the deployment and use of ILS IKM;
An understanding of the current state-of-the-art ILS IKM technologies in the military and civilian domains;
An understanding of the underlying customer needs and drivers for the development of ILS IKM systems;
An understanding of the environment in which ILS IKM systems are used – particularly the deployed elements;
An understanding of how capability is delivered via ILS principles including Personnel and Training aspects;
Broad experience of systems engineering and information systems, how systems of systems are developed and the underlying technologies, principles, limitations and issues.
