What is the role?
Due to the current and future workload requirements within BMT, we are seeking engineers to join our Naval Engineering business unit within the Design and Engineering business line of our Defence and Security operations. As a member of the team, you will offer high-level technical expertise and professionalism to clients and partners, as well as develop new business and contribute to our internal R&D work on future concepts.
To be successful in the role you will have the following experience;
HND/HNC and/or a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline i.e. Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a recognised professional body or an aspiration and demonstrable route to achieve this
Ship or submarine design capabilities
Understanding of ship or submarine equipment and systems (e.g. air, hydraulics, bilge, ballast, fire protections systems and/or HVAC)
Understanding of issues pertaining to the integration of marine systems and equipment within ships or submarines
Experience of MoD working practices
The ability and experience to develop close working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders & interfaces to progress business and programme demands
The following experience is desirable and not essential;
Project Management experience
Naval ship yard design and in service experience
Please note, due to security restrictions our Naval Engineers within Defence and Security are required to obtain security clearance and further restrictions result in some of our Naval Engineering projects being restricted to sole UK Nationals. Unfortunately, if you do not meet the criteria required to obtain security clearance it will not be possible to take your application any further for this role. This does not, however, prevent you from working in other roles at BMT.
