Dr Neil Cross  1. Dr Neil Cross
Non-executive Chairman

Neil Cross was appointed a non-executive director in 1997 and Chairman on 1 January 2006. He is Chairman of the Investment and Nominations Sub-Committees, a member of the Audit and Remuneration Sub-Committees and a Trustee of BMT’s Employee Benefit Trust. He had 27 years’ experience with 3i Group plc, latterly as Group International Director, and now holds a number of non-executive directorships and trustee positions. Neil is a past Chairman of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce and the European Venture Capital Association.
Peter French   2. Peter French
Chief Executive
Peter French was appointed Chief Executive in 2005. A maritime civil engineer by profession, he joined BMT in 1990 before which he was a partner in Peter Fraenkel & Partners. Peter is also Chairman of the Society of Maritime Industries, a Vice President of European Co-operation in Maritime Research, a Board member of International Transport Intermediaries Club Ltd and of the Association of Independent Research and Technology Organisations and a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Southampton’s School of Engineering Sciences. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution
of Naval Architects and a member of its Executive Committee and Council.
David McSweeney  3. David McSweeney
Finance Director
With over 20 years’ experience as a chartered accountant, David McSweeney was appointed Finance Director in 2001.  Previously he enjoyed a successful accountancy career as a partner at Baker Tilly. His extensive experience of corporate finance has included dealing with companies in the FTSE 100 and 250 as well as the NASDAQ, specialising in clients from the engineering and technology sectors.  David is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and was a member of the Institute’s Technical and Practical Auditing Committee.
Charles Betts  4. Charles Betts CB
Non-executive Director
Charles Betts was appointed a non-executive Director in 2001. He is a member of the R&D Sub-Committee, Chairman of the Pension Trustees and a trustee of BMT’s  Employee Benefit Trust. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Vice President of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and a member of Court of the University of Bath.  Charles was DG Surface Ships at the Ministry of Defence before becoming DG Submarines and Deputy Controller of the Navy and Head of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors.
Frances Heaton  5. Frances Heaton
Non-executive Director
Frances Heaton was appointed a non-executive Director in 2007 and is a member of the Audit and Investment Sub-Committees. She worked at HM Treasury before joining Lazard where she was a corporate Finance Director, including two years as Director General of the Take-over Panel. She has been a non-executive Director of a number of
companies and the Court of the Bank of England. She is currently a non-executive
Director of Legal & General Group plc, Jupiter Primadona Growth Trust and Chairman of the Lazard London Directors Pension Scheme.
Ian Davies  6. Ian Davies

Ian Davies was appointed a non-executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Sub-
Committee in 2006. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England
and Wales, and a member of its Technical Advisory Committee. He was a Visiting Fellow of the Department of Strategy at Cranfield University School of Management.  Ian has held a number of non-executive and advisory positions in private, public sector and listed entities. He is currently a non-executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Dawson Holdings plc and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
Sir Peter Woodhead  7. Vice Admiral Sir Peter Woodhead KCB

Sir Peter was appointed a non-executive Director in 1996 and Deputy Chairman in 2003. He chairs the Remuneration Sub-Committee and Employee Benefit Trust, and is a member of the Nominations Sub-Committee. During his career in the Royal Navy he commanded four ships, both Flotillas and was Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic.  Peter was Prisons Ombudsman 1994-2000.  He is a Lay Reader, Chairman of a crime reduction charity and Trustee of three others, a member of the Security Vetting Appeals Panel and a school governor.
